New Mobile App from Backbone Connect Gives Customers Visibility of Their IT Infrastructure Environment Anytime, Anywhere

Backbone Connect, London’s leading colocation provider, has developed an iPhone app that allows customers to remotely monitor and manage their systems located in Backbone Connect data centres.

We’ve taken monitoring one step further by providing really useful tools that help our clients manage their critical colocated infrastructure from anywhere.

The Backbone Connect app is the first of its kind, and gives customers operating and environment monitoring capabilities while on the move. Customers get real-time information on key data centre elements that have an impact on cost and system uptime.

Internet traffic, rack power consumption, environmental statistics (such as humidity and ambient temperature) are all offered as standard. The app even provides a live camera feed so customers can see what’s happening at their racks from their iPhone screen.

“We have distilled the actionable information IT and data centre managers need at their fingertips and made that information available anytime, anywhere,” says David Mcleod, Backbone Connect Marketing Director. “This is an example of how we push boundaries. We’ve taken monitoring one step further by providing really useful tools that help our clients manage their critical colocated infrastructure from anywhere.”

The app enables users to keep a close eye on power consumption, which has a direct impact on cost and the environment. What’s more, customers can set up multiple push notifications to their own parameters, so they will be alerted to any problems as they happen, and be able to respond quickly.

The app is available to download free from Apple iTunes. All data is also available via the desktop from the Backbone Connect Portal, together with instant access to historical information.
