Gilbane Earns Spot on the 2013 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across the U.S.
Providence, RI (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- Gilbane Building Company today announced that it made this year’s InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. The firm was recognized in part for DocBuilder, a web-based application developed by Gilbane to put documents into the hands of clients, architects and trade contractors in a more timely and secure manner. The full Top Technology Innovators list can be found at http://www.informationweek.com/500.
“It is an honor to be included on the Information Week 500 list,” said Jason Pelkey, Gilbane’s chief information officer. “Being part of this group of companies recognizes our employees’ innovation, hard work, and determination to create value for our customers. Our technology team is working every day to help our construction teams work smarter. We are proud to be changing the way technology is used in the construction industry.”
As Gilbane began to implement a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system last year, the company recognized the need for a way to provide clients and field staff with a Lean solution for processing changes that went beyond traditional methods. Gilbane formed a small team of operations and technology resources that aimed to remove steps from the process, eliminate paper, and improve the client experience. The DocBuilder system connects three major functions that all provide key components of a change – field operations, procurement, and the ERP system.
"The theme of this year's InformationWeek 500 is digital business. It's a movement, rooted in data analytics, mobile computing, social networking and other customer‐focused technologies that are turning companies and industries on their ear," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston.
"Every enterprise is now a digital business — or needs to become one fast. The organizations in our ranking are leading the way."
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual InformationWeek 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of some of the best‐known organizations in the country. Past overall winners include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, PACCAR Inc., The Vanguard Group, CME Group, National Semiconductor, Con‐Way, and Principal Financial Group. Unique among corporate rankings, the InformationWeek 500 spotlights the power of innovation in information technology.
