Goodwill Community Foundation® Donates $140,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Nash/Edgecombe Counties
Durham & Rocky Mount, NC (PRWEB) September 13, 2013 -- Goodwill Community Foundation® (GCF) has donated $140,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Nash/Edgecombe Counties, Lucy Ann Boddie Brewer Unit. This infusion of cash places the organization on a sound financial footing, allowing for program expansion and growth to benefit area youth.
The donation is part of a GCF grant program that seeks out and contributes to community organizations that create opportunities for people across eastern North Carolina and the globe. The reach of this program is broad and includes organizations in nearly every corner of the world - The Place Of Possibilities in Aulander, NC; The Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh, NC; The Huchuy Yachaq Association in Cusco, Peru; and The New Life Center in Zambia.
“The Boys & Girls Club of Nash/Edgecombe County gives children an opportunity for a better life by giving them the essential tools for success at the time they are most vulnerable, during non school hours of the day. The mission of GCF® is to create opportunities for a better life and that’s exactly what Ron Green and his team are doing,” says Reverend Dennis McLain, GCF® President. “The Club is now positioned to empower children with the knowledge and resources to better their life and we’re proud to be able to help in that cause.”
“Without this donation, our service to local families was limited. Without the financial support of GCF® we would not have been able to grow our offerings and reach our potential as a community organization,” says Ron Green, Boys & Girls Club of Nash/Edgecombe Counties chief professional officer. “GCF and Dennis McLain are truly invested in the future of our children. They believe in creating better futures for our young people and they’ve shown that support through these generous gifts.”
The facilities and programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Nash/Edgcombe Counties will continue to provide services that help children develop self-esteem, values and life skills during critical periods of growth and development. This helps young people better reach their full potential as positive and productive citizens. The local young people and their families who benefit from the services offered by the Club rely on this support. Without the assistance, the Club was in danger of losing programs and resources necessary to support the future citizens of our communities.
