Newmark Systems Inc. Announces New Control Systems for Wind Tunnel Testing
Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- Newmark Systems Inc. of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA has been awarded a contract from Tri-Models of Huntington Beach to design and implement a control system for wind tunnel testing. Tri-Models is a major supplier of wind tunnel models in the US.
The system incorporates servo control of a total of 12 surfaces including ailerons, rudder, elevons, flaps, etc. and offers an user friendly software interface which allows the customer to quickly and precisely select the angular position any surface.
Newmark originally developed the control software in collaboration with Tri-Models for Airbus to test the fighter Eurojet. A new enhanced version of this system is scheduled for delivery to Cessna and Gulfstream in the fall of 2013.
The control system uses a state-of-the-art closed loop servo system that takes in consideration surface deflections due to wind forces to provide accurate and repeatable angular positioning of the various aircraft surfaces.
The software includes a calibration routine that allows quick conversion of high resolution encoder feedback to angular position of the control surfaces by solving 10th or higher order polynomials.
This system represents a major breakthrough in wind tunnel testing by providing real-time accurate data to aerodynamicists and engineers in a simple and efficient manner.
Newmark Systems Inc. is a supplier of motion control systems and components such as linear slides, XY tables and Gimbal systems since 1995.
