Relationship, Divorce Findings Show Growing Insecurity in Men
Aliso Viejo, CA. (PRWEB) September 13, 2013 -- August 2013 divorce statistics collected by online divorce service MyDivorcePapers.com (MDP) seem to confirm that men have a growing reason to feel insecure in their marriages and relationships.
The data coincides with a study reported by Huffington Post. According to the recent article, men are almost twice as likely to look through their partners’ phones without telling them. Out of 2,081 adults surveyed by Mobile Phone Checker, 62 percent of men admitted to snooping compared to only 34 percent of women.
And in the Mobile Phone Checker study, men who admitted to cell phone snooping said their motivation was to make sure their partner wasn’t cheating or talking to anyone else “in a romantic or sexual way.”
(In almost half of all cases -- 48 percent -- the snooping did turn up cause for concern.)
MDP August Report
Interestingly enough, the statistics of cell phone snooping coincide almost exactly to the rate of filing for divorce between the different genders.
According to MDP’s monthly report for August, women push for the divorce papers 63.82 percent of the time compared to 36.18 percent for men.
(These numbers are an almost direct inverse of the cell phone snooping study.)
The Implications
With the cell phone snooping data, it becomes clear that almost two-thirds of men in committed relationships are more concerned about becoming victims of cheating at the hands of their spouses than women. This implies definite trust issues, which are all but confirmed when you look at the fact that two-thirds of most divorce proceedings are initiated by women.
Bottom line: If you feel the need to snoop through your partner’s phone, then you and/or your partner are not being transparent enough for a committed relationship, and it could be time to call it quits.
