This fall, The Lodge at Pine Cove ( is pleased to announce they are offering a weekend-long Travel Writing & Photography Retreat. Leading the Travel Writing & Photography Retreat at The Lodge at Pine Cove is award-winning writer and outdoor adventure enthusiast Nicola Ross and an award-winning, internationally published photographer Rob Stimpson. Under their guidance, participants will learn how to write an interesting and entertaining travel story and discover some of the tricks of the trade when it comes to documenting their travel adventures in a more engaging manner. “With the proliferation of blogs, travel websites and on-demand printing, there has never been a better time to describe your travels in print and image,” says Ross. “The goal of our travel writing workshop is to give participants the tools they need to write well-constructed prose and take quality photographs so that they can create a compelling account of their travels, whether for publication or for their personal enjoyment.”

A prolific writer, Ross travels extensively and writes about her far-flung adventures, whether it’s kayaking on the French River or horseback riding in Patagonia. Her travel stories can be found in such publications as The Walrus, The Globe and Mail and the Calgary Herald, as well as on her blog Dusty Travelling. Stimpson, has travelled throughout Northern Ontario and Central America following his passion for outdoor and wilderness photography. Later this year, he will be travelling to Antarctica.

The Lodge at Pine Cove’s Travel Writing & Photography Retreat will take place on Friday, October 18th through Sunday, October 20th, 2013. The three-day retreat, which includes two night’s accommodations in one of The Lodge’s elegant cottages, all meals and instructions, is just $699 per person based on private-bedroom accommodations in a shared cottage or $899 per person based on a private cottage.
