Work Zone Cam Construction Cameras Document Transformation of O’Hare Airport
New York (PRWEB) September 13, 2013 -- Progress is underway for a $6.6 billion overhaul of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport and the public can track the progress with two Work Zone Cam construction cameras. The O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP) includes four new runways and the project team chose Work Zone Cam’s reliable webcam technology to document and promote this massive project.
Construction Manager, Parsons Brinckerhoff, chose Work Zone Cam as a low cost, high quality construction camera solution to document progress of two specific aspects of this construction. One camera is positioned to view the construction of a tunnel beneath future new Runway 10R/28L. A second camera delivers updating views of the construction of a new 218’ South Airport Traffic Control Tower. The new tower will provide direct line-of-sight capabilities for aircrafts operating on future Runway 10R-28L. All progress will be captured in crisp, high definition images, suited for time-lapse photography. Up-to-date views of the progress are available online for the public to view at http://parsons.workzonecam.com/parsons.
The OMP is the largest airport construction project in the country at one of the world’s busiest airports. The OMP is transforming O’Hare’s airfield into a modern parallel runway configuration to reduce flight delays and increase capacity. When completed, the program will create up to 195,000 new jobs and add an additional $18 million to the region. Paving for the new Runway 10R/28L will start next year and is set to open in October 2015.
