Irvine, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2013
ALEKS Corporation, a subsidiary of McGraw-Hill Education, and a leading provider of adaptive learning and assessment solutions, today announced the addition of a new Class and Topic Resources feature to its online math courses. This robust new tool allows educators in K-12 and higher education to further customize their classes by targeting multi-media and other supplementary resources to individual ALEKS topics, providing additional just-in-time instruction to students precisely when they need it. This enhancement makes ALEKS an even more powerful tool for personalized learning and data-driven instruction.
The new feature allows educators to add resources for students to access in ALEKS at the class and individual topic level, including files, links, and notes to aid student learning. For example, they can add a link to a video or PowerPoint they find online or create themselves that supplements a particular lesson in ALEKS. Students can then access these materials through the "Resources" page and/or the "Explain" pages of ALEKS topics depending on the accessibility options selected by the instructor. The tool is especially useful for facilitating flipped classrooms and course redesigns for both K-12 and higher education implementations.
“No two classrooms are the same and no two educators teach the same way. We developed this feature to further enhance our customers’ ability to create truly customized educational experiences for their students,” said Wil Lampros, president of ALEKS. "ALEKS has always focused on giving educators the tools they need to create dynamic learning environments. The Class and Topic Resources feature enables them to incorporate and precisely target additional materials they wish to introduce to their students.”
ALEKS is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system that uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what students know and don’t know in a course. With its completely personalized approach to learning, ALEKS enables students to successfully master course material by targeting the topics they are precisely ready to learn right now. As students work through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses their knowledge to ensure that topics learned are also retained.
