Car finance experts Car Loan 4U comments on electric vehicle charging points in London
Macclesfield, Cheshire (PRWEB UK) 13 September 2013 -- Christopher Chope, the Governments ex-roads minister believes that the London local authorities will categorically have no case to answer if there was ever any harm caused to anyone using the large network of electric car charging points found in the capital.
Mr Chope, who is a member of the Conservative party said that new provisions to the London Local Authorities and Transport for London (No.2) Bill will effectively make all authorities totally exempt from being sued for damages if the charging point or any cables cause harm to anyone using the points on roads or in public car parks.
Car Loan 4U Director Ryan Dignan, comments:
“It’s fantastic that the capital of the UK has such a huge network of Electric Vehicle charging points but, if in the event of a malfunction someone is hurt, then someone needs to be held accountable.
“The fact that Mr Chope believes that all local authorities in London would be protected from any legal action could mean that people become scared to use the charging points, which could subsequently reduce the amount of people looking to buy a new Electric car.
“The future of the Electric Vehicle is important, not just for the UK economy but also to reduce the UK’s carbon footprint, so we really need the Government to offer some assurances that people will be compensated if any harm was to come to them or their vehicle while using a public charging point.”
