Audiosocket Releases Patent-Pending Music Licensing Technology LicenseID (LID) To Authenticate Licenses and Report on Music Copyright Violations
New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 -- Today, Audiosocket, a music licensing company that gives visual media creators a way to quickly, easily and effectively discover and legally license music, announced the debut of LicenseID (LID), a new music licensing tool that helps audio licensees, licensors, and digital distribution platforms solve copyright compliance issues. Using a patent pending technology that instantly embeds a unique tag into the audio file as each track is licensed, LicenseID delivers data to rights holders on where tracks are being used, how and by whom.
Audiosocket today also announced SourceAudio, a cloud-based music licensing & distribution platform hosting over 3,400 music labels and over 5 million tracks, as an early partner using the LicenseID technology. Audiosocket’s LicenseID will become available as a standard feature to hundreds of publishers who conduct their business on SourceAudio’s vast network everyday.
“SourceAudio can help Audisocket scale quickly into the non-pop production and indie music space - where a majority of music is licensed for commercial purposes - when publishers on our platform opt into this new program.” said Andrew Harding, SourceAudio’s Co-Founder & President of Business Development. “With LicenseID, publishers on our network will have the opportunity to monitor individual files and licenses, and be flagged when a piece of music is not in compliance. compliance. As champions of copyright protection, this fits nicely into our model of being a one-stop destination for music publishers, by creating efficiencies and monetization opportunities after a file has been initially downloaded and/or licensed.”
Prior to LicenseID, copyright technology only matched audio waveforms using fingerprinting without the capability of authenticating or verifying a license. Frequently, users who follow the appropriate licensing protocol are penalized because the fingerprinting technology cannot identify if the music is properly licensed causing it to be improperly flagged. By embedding a unique inaudible tag into each individual audio file when the license is purchased, LicenseID enables digital distribution platforms to automatically detect and verify a license while reporting back valuable data and analytics to the licensor.
“The explosive growth of monetized and user-generated content on YouTube and other video sharing platforms has sparked a growing number of digital licensing issues and lawsuits,” said Jenn Miller, Co-Founder/COO of Audiosocket. “Until today, the music industry has not delivered advanced technologies to meet the copyright demands of the broader market. As music industry professionals, we have created a technology to identify music that is properly licensed from that which violates copyrights. LicenseID is a solution that acts as a digital proof of purchase thereby protecting the interests of all parties involved.”
Audiosocket’s focus on facilitating deals between independent artists and digital, mobile and traditional media companies drove the development of LicenseID beginning in 2012 as an addition to the MaaS™ (Music as a Service) product line. Audiosocket’s suite of solutions have been created in response to the various issues faced by the music industry.

With that goal in mind, we bring together a collection of exceptional artists whose music is highly curated and culturally relevant, in combination with our own innovative technology created to manage all your music licensing needs - and to protect the interests of all parties involved. Audiosocket now announces LicenseID (LID), a patent-pending technology for music licensors and media distribution platforms to share and track music licenses securely. LID embeds a unique tag directly into an audio file as it is licensed to ensure copyright compliance. LID's unique license tag is then recognized and validated by video sharing platforms, digital distribution channels, television networks and websites using LID technology. The tag can be traced by music labels, libraries and publishers providing transparency on where the works are licensed and by whom.
