Arizona Residents Are Invited to Play Ball with the Miracle League- Grand Opening of the Newly Added Batting Cages on October 5, 2013
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- The Miracle League is a charitable organization that grants over 200 children and young adults with special needs the opportunity to play a game of baseball, as a team member in an organized league. Free to participate and sign up, three days a week for one hour the Miracle League offers parents with special need children the opportunity to get out in the sunshine, and enjoy playing the game of baseball.
Each special needs athlete gets a team jersey, is placed in a league based upon his or her age and skill level, and matched with a ‘Buddy’, a one-on-one friends and helper. All athletes are encouraged to do as much as they can on their own, and the buddies are there to assist with the rest. Sometimes an athlete may require hand over hand aid, where in other cases words of encouragement, high fives, or prompts on what to do next maybe all that is needed.
Fall season starts September 28, 2013. Volunteers are welcome ages 10 and up, training and orientation for all new volunteers starts September 24, at 6 p.m. at 11130 E Cholla Campus.
