San Francisco, California (PRWEB) September 23, 2013 -- In Galera Cluster 3.0, synchronous multi-master replication allows an application to read and write from any cluster node with no restrictions. Every node in the cluster is a full representative of the database with up-to-date data and there is no slave lag or data integrity issues, nor any need for complex fail-overs. Optimized group communication and row level parallel replication yield excellent performance and scalability. Galera replication powers Percona XtraDB Cluster ™ and MariaDB Galera Cluster ™.
Galera Cluster 3.0 offers new advanced features:
• Support for MySQL™ 5.6 version. Galera Cluster is a drop-in replacement for MySQL™ community edition server.
• Support for MySQL™ 5.6 GTID (global transaction ID). Galera Cluster users can now fan in and out from Galera cluster using MySQL asynchronous replication, and MySQL master fail-over is straight forward with the help of GTID. MySQL asynchronous replication allows many new replication topologies, such as connecting Galera clusters over high latency WAN links.
• Optimized write set format. Drastically improves processing speed of large transactions.
• Cluster node proximity awareness. Cluster segmentation reduces network traffic significantly between data centers. Also when joining the cluster, a new node will choose a state donor from the closest segment.
"Interest in Galera is growing rapidly and we want to support that development with Galera Cluster 3.0 beta release. Very often Galera is deployed in cloud services and we wanted to improve Galera to be used in the Amazon cloud environment between datacenters and with OpenStack™. As always, we encourage the Galera community to try out Galera Cluster 3.0 beta and to give feedback to us. Galera Cluster 3.0 general availability (GA) version will be released after a short beta test cycle,” says Seppo Jaakola, CEO at Codership.
"Galera Cluster has been the backbone of PingOne for almost two years. As a single sign-on service, PingOne has very high availability requirements and at the heart of that success is Galera Cluster," says Michael Ward from Ping Identity.
Codership develops replication and clustering solutions for open source databases, adopting novel ideas from latest DBMS and distributed computing research to build fundamentally a new high availability solution. Our flagship product Codership's Galera Cluster for MySQL, a synchronous multi-master cluster software, provides high system uptime with no data loss and scalability for high traffic web businesses. Galera is an open-source product and it also powers Percona XtraDB Cluster™ and MariaDB Galera Cluster™.
