The classes of 2011 and 2012 created a landmark at Leona High School in New Jersey by donating a brand new school LED message sign to replace their old changeable letterboard sign. The old sign required a staff member or student to carry a box of letters out to the sign and manually change the message. If it was too hot or cold, raining or snowing, the student would have to brave the elements or the sign would show an expired message for another day or two, which is a common occurrence for these old signs. Now, the new LED message sign can be updated with multiple messages at any time during the day from inside the comfort of their office.

“I’m surprised we didn’t push for this LED sign sooner. You never realize how many events, updates and notices you have to communicate with the students, parents, and community until you have the technology to do so…and with ease. It’s wonderful,“ stated Ed Bertolini with Leonia High School.

Along with an illuminated ID cabinet, KC Sign and Awnings installed a Phoenix™ Full Color Series LED sign manufactured by Vantage LED in Corona, CA. It features the powerful Darwin™ Industrial Control Unit that can handle the most demanding high resolution video and graphics. The high school controls the sign using the simple, yet powerful, LightSpeed™ LED sign software. The software is user friendly for the simple user, yet still packed with advanced features for the most tech savvy user.

“With the addition of the new Vantage LED display, Leonia High School will be able to reach a wide audience with important, up-to-date information. Their old changeable plastic letter sign was outdated and no longer a useful solution to share messages with the public,” added Steve Clark with KC Sign and Awnings.

With the dedication of KC Sign and Awnings and the reliability of Vantage LED, Leonia High School is kicking off this school year with the tools and support they need to effectively communicate to their community.
