Freeslate Debuts Complete Polyolefin Development Portfolio to Unlock Innovation Potential and Improve Efficiency
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- Freeslate, Inc., the leading provider of high throughput research solutions, is transforming the way polyolefins are developed with the introduction of a comprehensive product portfolio that will accelerate innovation and drive greater efficiency at each step in the process – from catalyst synthesis to analysis of polymer products. With the Freeslate Polyolefin Development Portfolio, users can develop and optimize catalysts up to 10 times faster than conventional methods, gain a deeper understanding of catalyst performance, and capture data at every stage to enable quick implementations, scaling, and documentation of finished processes.
“High throughput research solutions have sped up development times during the last decade. By combining new capabilities like the Polyolefin CatSyn Reactor with our proven polymerization reactors and analytics, we are introducing a new level of speed and efficiency,” said John S. Senaldi, President and CEO of Freeslate. “Our products not only make day-to-day operations more efficient, they provide powerful tools that will allow users to test their theories for a new catalyst and then quickly take the steps needed to bring innovative products to market. Processes that typically would take years to accomplish can now be done in a matter of months.”
The Freeslate Polyolefin Development Portfolio streamlines processes by providing a comprehensive set of proven products:
• Polyolefin CatSyn Reactor – Automatically synthesize and work-up 16 catalysts per day while safely handling corrosives. This system accelerates preparation of Ziegler-Natta and supported metallocene catalysts, and enables users to study titanation conditions and vary internal donors.
• Parallel Pressure Reactor (PPR) – Reduce experimentation time by running up to 48 polymerizations per day. The PPR automates reactor control and catalyst injection, and allows for characterizing the effects of temperature, pressure, co-catalysts, external donors, and ratios.
• Product Development Reactor (PDR) – Run eight multistage polymerizations each day. With the PDR, users can perform real-time headspace Gas Chromatography (GC), control headspace composition with closed-loop feedback, characterize catalyst performance across different processes, and generate mechanical testing quantities of polymer from each reactor.
• Polymer Analytics Workflow – Automatically prepare and analyze up to 48 polymer samples per day. This analysis tool enables users to determine the molecular weight and polydispersity index using the Freeslate Rapid Gas Phase Chromatographer (GPC), tacticity and comonomer incorporation by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and melting point (Tm) and glass transition temperature (Tg) by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
These products are then tied together with a single software solution, Freeslate’s Lab Execution and Analysis (LEA) software suite, which provides the integrated framework for ongoing discovery and development. The software suite includes Library Studio® for quickly designing experiments, Automation Studio™ that controls catalyst synthesis and polymerization and stores outcome data in a centralized database, and PolyView® and Data Browser™ for managing experimental data and sharing results securely within an organization.
