DoYouRemember.com Officially Launches Its Site Dedicated to Making People Happy Through Nostalgia
Miami, FL (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- DoYouRemember today announced its official launch after a successful three-month beta testing period, where it quickly gained prominence as the go-to destination for all things nostalgic.
DoYouRemember.com features everything from music and movies, to fashion and celebrities, to retro technology and video games; all designed to take people back and relive the feeling of those simpler and happier times.
“Nostalgia makes people feel good,” said Michael Gitter, noted nostalgia authority and founder of DoYouRemember. "Some clinical psychologists actually prescribe nostalgia to patients because of its positive and therapeutic benefits."
Gitter wrote the book on nostalgia, literally, with his series of top selling Do You Remember books in the 90s. The subtitle of the first edition was "The Book that Takes You Back" - and now he's given nostalgia a home on the web.
On DoYouRemember.com, there's no shortage of content to connect with people of all ages and with every interest. There are separate categories highlighting the best nostalgia of each decade, and for just about every topic—from some of the coolest ads of all-time, to classic toys from the past, to the biggest celebrity scandals.
DoYouRemember.com also features vintage-inspired pop culture news including timely posts from the latest headlines that connect today's news with related news from the past. Additionally, users can share their memories and archive them on the site.
DoYouRemember has become a big viral hit on Facebook with some of its posts receiving over one million “likes.” It's also popular on Twitter, where people can quickly share nostalgic memories with their followers with a quick tweet.
Following the success of such sites as Jack’s Threads, Fab.com and Refinery 29, DYR is a “content and commerce” site. DYR has recently begun selling retro merchandise it sells on its site. “Behavioral scientists tell us that ‘nostalgia-prone’ are highly influenced by nostalgia-based marketing,” said Gitter. “We’ll be featuring ads from major brands soon, as well.”
The Company has also developed a series of mobile apps relating to nostalgia. Their Bloop-It app, a video sharing app that features iconic film, TV and music clips which can be texted or emailed, has just become available at the App Store.
DoYouRemember has raised $1.25 million in seed financing with plans to raise $3-5 million in a Series-A round in the next six months.
