Au Pair Care Participates in 29th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 21
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- Au Pair Care, the leading au pair agency that provides affordable, live-in child care services to American families, will be volunteering at the 29th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day this coming Saturday, September 21. Au pairs, staff, and host families from across Northern California will be participating in five different clean-up events across the state. The events will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and are open to the public.
“This is our second year participating in the California Coastal Cleanup Day,” said Steven Courtney, Au Pair Care regional manager for California. “We’re excited to lend a hand at the five Northern California locations, and look forward to working with other members of the community to make a difference during this time of funding cutbacks for public land maintenance in the Golden State. Our au pairs and host families care deeply about the environmental quality of their communities, and this event offers them the opportunity to leave California waterways cleaner than when they found them.”
California Coastal Cleanup Day, an annual beach and inland waterway cleanup, is the state's largest volunteer event. In 2012, more than 65,000 volunteers removed nearly 770,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from California beaches, lakes and waterways. For the second year, the event is taking place in conjunction with, and on the same day as, the International Coastal Cleanup – the largest volunteer event on the planet – organized by the Ocean Conservancy. Au Pair Care’s au pairs, staff and host families will be volunteering at the following locations across the state, which have been prearranged by California Coastal Cleanup and are open to the public. Other businesses participating in the events include Crystal Geyser, Whole Foods, Oracle, Chipotle, Nature’s Path, Clif Bar, The Ocean Conservancy, Bank of America, See’s Candies and Union Bank, to name a few.

“As an international au pair and a visitor to California, I am proud to contribute to the effort to keep the Golden State’s beaches, lakesides and waterways clean and the wildlife healthy,” said Ayfer Cicek of Turkey, an au pair in San Francisco with the Au Pair Care team. “In Turkey we are not always able to organize such a large, coordinated clean-up event like this. It’s an inspiring lesson I will bring back to my own country when I return.”
