(PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- After participating in the 14th International Conference of the Functional Food Center (FFC) at UCLA in August, Raj Lall, President and CEO of global animal nutrition company Vets Plus, Inc., has been accepted as a member of the Academic Society for Functional Foods and Bioactive Compounds (ASFFBC). ASFFBC is an organization of nutrition industry professionals and researchers whose mission is to form connections and provide educational resources to advance the science of functional foods.
The 14th International Conference focused on “Functional Foods and Bioactive Compounds in the Management of Chronic Inflammation,” a topic Lall found particularly relevant to the pet industry. The joint category for pets represents the largest market segment of supplement sales and is growing as pets continue to live longer alongside humans. Lall’s background in human health and nutrition—he studied pharmacognosy at the University of Minnesota and worked in the human probiotic industry for several years before launching Vets Plus—gives him a unique perspective for incorporating human technology in formulations for the health of pets.
Lall said, “There are so many natural compound technologies that we have yet to explore as researchers and businesses which can be part of natural therapies for a whole host of conditions in pets.
