Professional Photographers of America Helps Launch Inaugural World Photographic Cup
ATLANTA, Ga. (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- For years, master photographers from sea to sea have dreamt of a way to bring the global photographic industry together and determine the best of the best. Their dream has become a reality with the formation of the World Photographic Cup (WPC).
For the first time ever, countries will unite as teams to see what nation produces the best images in the world. The WPC is a competition for teams of photographers representing their home countries.
The WPC was founded as a cooperative effort by The Federation of European Photographers (FEP) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Its singular goal is to unite photographers in a spirit of friendship and cooperation.

PPA is honored to represent team USA and we hope this opportunity will push PPA members and photographers across the globe to be more.”
Each country may be represented by only one team, which generally will be created by a national association made up of professional photographers. Each team will pick its own individuals and images to enter.
Teams may submit up to three images in each of six categories: Portrait, Wedding, Commercial (including advertising, architecture, industrial, fashion), Illustrative/Digital art, Reportage/Photojournalistic and Landscape. Teams may choose to enter the images of a single photographer in multiple categories. However, no single photographer may have multiple images entered into a single category.
Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the individual creator in each category. Teams are awarded points for each medal they receive (five for gold, three for silver, two for bronze). The team with the most points at the end of the competition judging will receive the World Photographic Cup.
Online judging for this year’s WPC opens November 1 and closes November 15. Images will be judged by a panel of 15 jurors from around the world, selected based on their photographic technique, experience and previous training as a photographic judge. The World Photographic Cup and the 18 medal winners will be presented at Imaging USA in Phoenix, Ariz. in January 2014.
With the call for entries going worldwide, 19 countries have already entered, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Norway, Pakistan, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, the U.K. and the U.S. Entries for team USA were chosen at the International Photographic Competition (IPC) last month in Atlanta. To be considered for entry to next year’s World Photographic Cup, U.S. photographers must first enter their images into the IPC.
The WPC organizing body is made up of photographers from across Europe, the United States, and Canada. The body is composed of six members, including three selected by each of the founding member associations. PPA is represented by Dennis Craft, M.Photog.Hon.M.Photog.Cr., CPP, API, F-ASP, Don Dickson, M.Photog.Hon.M.Photog.Cr., CPP and Don MacGregor, M.Photog.Cr., API. Giusseppe Scozzi, CEO of FEP has been named to the same position for the WPC.
