Visible Lighting Reviews Growth of LED Headlights
(PRWEB UK) 17 September 2013 -- It has been reported in Automotive News that Osram, one of the biggest LED brands in the UK market, has predicted that by 2020, LED headlights will account for 20% of headlights produced worldwide, up from approximately 2% this year. Whilst costs for LEDs are currently higher than for Xenon or Halogen lamps, Claud Allgeier from Osram believes they could become equal in price within three years, claiming that they “have been changing quite rapidly. Over the last two or three years, there has been a substantial improvement of price and improvement.”
At the recent Frankfurter auto show, Audi introduced an LED high beam that can dim itself without using mechanical shutters.
Renowned for their range of domestic and commercial LED lighting, Visible Lighting take an interest in closely pursuing all industry news. Particularly intrigued by the estimations, a representative from the firm gives their views on what makes LEDs so suitable for use in car headlights.
“As well as being brighter and significantly more energy efficient, these LED lamplights are much more durable. This makes them more popular amongst drivers as well as manufacturers- with a solid state construction they are weatherproof and because they lose less energy to heat they run cool and thus aren’t subject to sudden temperature change. Additionally, LEDs provide the optimum amount of light instantly, which is obviously good for safety, explaining why LED emergency lighting is becoming so popular.”
