The CollegeBound Network Embarks on a Fall Season of Community Support
Staten Island, NY (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- The fall months will be busy for The CollegeBound Network (CBN) as CollegeBound Cares, the education marketing company’s philanthropic arm, continues its efforts to support those in and around its Staten Island, NY community.
For the fifth consecutive year, CollegeBound Cares will be teaming up with Staten Island Parent Magazine (SIP) to participate in and raise funds for the annual “Light the Night” walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to be held on September 28th at Midland Beach, Staten Island, NY.
The companies walk together to remember employee family member Russell Bellesi who lost his battle with Leukemia in 2011, and to honor someone within the CBN/SIP family, Lauren Stillman. Lauren was diagnosed in 2006 and has come a long way since then; she is now in remission.
“Our company was built on the concept of ‘family,’ which is why the Light the Night Walk is so important to us,” explains Mario Lupia, CBN chief operator officer. “Though our CollegeBound Cares initiatives, we’re able to continue that philosophy of helping our own, thanks to opportunities to assist those in need in and around our surrounding community.”
CollegeBound Cares will also be supporting the following community events through the fall season:
Step for a Cure: Michael’s Cause – The CollegeBound Network CollegeBound Cares will be the t-shirt sponsor for this annual event that spreads awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The walk, started by the parents of 6-year-old Michael Capolongo, also raises funds for research toward future treatments and a possible cure. It will be held on September 22nd in Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island, NY.
Staten Island YMCA Golf Outing – The CollegeBound Network’s CollegeBound Cares will be a hole sponsor at the October 7th event, which benefits the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign. Each dollar contributed goes directly to making Staten Island YMCA programs and membership available to those in need.
Staten Island 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes – On October 6th, The CollegeBound Cares will be sponsoring this important and fun walk at The College of Staten Island. Participants show support for all those living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and to raise funds for JDRF — the leading global organization focused on T1D research.
