Novelist Snæbjörn Writes New Book Not Only for Fun but as a Form of Recovery
Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- According to the Literacy Project Foundation, 44% of American adults do not read one full book per year. This tendency is borne out of childhood reading habits.
Author Snæbjörn hopes his new novel Forgemasters of the Realm: The Elven Tomes will instill a passion for reading in young people. Reading not only brings him joy, but also became a life-saving hobby.
“Writing this book served as my way of recovering from a massive stroke,” said Snæbjörn. “I was able to recover my faculties all while getting lost in a beautiful world of fiction, which never would have happened if I didn’t learn to love reading early in life.”
Snæbjörn creates an intricate realm of fantasy where gnomes, dwarves and elves must find the Book of Knowledge that controls the world. In their search they must traverse the world of humans and survive deceit, murder and civil war.
“The world needs a boost in literacy rates,” said Snæbjörn, “and fantasy fiction will not only stimulate reading but also inspire a child’s imagination leading to a lifetime of creativity.”

About the Author
Snæbjörn spent a large portion of his life in Iceland where Viking sagas and a rich local mythology inspired his writing. He was the president of the Icelandic Taekwondo Federation and even attended the World Games in 1990 before his stroke in 2005 left him unable to read, write or speak. In 2008 he began working on the Forgemasters series with this installment being the first he feels meets the status of his recovery.
