Sensor Kinetics app from INNOVENTIONS shows what the sensors on Android and iOS smartphones are doing in real time.

INNOVENTIONS, Inc., a pioneer in smartphone display navigation, has released their Sensor Kinetics app, giving users the power to learn what’s going on “behind the scenes” with the sensors on their iOS and Android phones and tablets. To date, the app has been downloaded over 100,000 times.

“Like many techies, I am curious about what lies under the hood of my phone,” said Dr. David Y. Feinstein, the creator of Sensor Kinetics. “If you want to know about your Android phone’s gyroscope, or see how sensitive your iPad’s magnetometer is, Sensor Kinetics is the app for you. It demonstrates the functionality of each sensor and logs the data gathered in real time, complete with vivid charts.”

Sensor Kinetics users can quickly and simultaneously test and monitor each of the sensors on their smartphone. The details of each sensor are listed, including measurement, data rate and other capabilities. Displayed with each sensor is a chart of the raw data and where applicable, raw data may be automatically converted to rotation angles.

Sensor Kinetics is the perfect tool for physics classes. Students can use Sensor Kinetics to observe the subtle differences between linear acceleration and gravity, experiment with magnetic fields, detect rotation with gyroscopes, and sense vibrations with the accelerometer.

Sensor Kinetics Pro ($0.99) is also now available for users who need more features. It includes all of the features of Sensor Kinetics, plus it allows the user to apply filters to the data stream, convert vector graphs to scalar graphs, save the sensor data and export it via e-mail to open in a spreadsheet.

Sensor Kinetics and Sensor Kinetics Pro are now available from Google Play and the App Store.
