HNTB Corporation’s Tampa Office Celebrates 40 Years of Infrastructure Solutions
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- HNTB Corporation announces the 40th anniversary of its Tampa office, celebrating four decades of shaping infrastructure in the Greater Tampa Bay area. The firm is honored to serve the largest transportation agencies in the area, some of which include the Florida Department of Transportation, Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority, Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority, Hillsborough County, Pinellas County, Polk County, City of Tampa, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit and Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority.
HNTB traces its early work in the region to serving THEA in the design and construction of its expressway system and the Florida Cities Water Co.’s wastewater treatment facilities near Sarasota, helping achieve federal standards in 1973.
The Tampa office, currently located at One Tampa City Center, 201 Franklin St., is led by James Drapp, PE, vice president and principal-in-charge. Drapp, a long-time Tampa Bay-area resident, directs 90 employees who serve clients from Southwest Florida to the Panhandle. HNTB employs 380 professionals throughout Florida from 13 regular office and on-site project locations.
“During the past four decades, HNTB has partnered on major projects with our clients to improve the region’s transportation infrastructure, create economic growth and jobs, and provide quality mobility options for residents and visitors every day,” said Drapp.
The firm serves as general engineering consultant for FDOT Districts 1 and 3, as well as the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority. HNTB also manages and staffs three FDOT traffic management centers in Tampa, Southwest Florida and Orlando, which operate 24 hours, 7 days a week. HNTB’s legacy includes the Crosstown, now Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, with its internationally renowned elevated reversible express lanes, the Veteran’s Expressway and Tampa International Airport, where the firm was part of the design team for the soaring Airside C terminal that opened in 2005. HNTB currently is working with the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority on updating its Tampa International Airport Master Plan.
In addition to project work, HNTB’s Tampa office is proud to support the local community. The firm sponsors events such as the University of South Florida’s Center for Urban Transportation Research’s annual CUTR Award; the Tony Jannus Award for aviation hosted by the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society; and Bullarney, the annual USF College of Engineering fundraiser. Employees also serve on numerous civic and professional committees and boards throughout the region.
HNTB Corporation, with more than 3,600 employees in 60 offices across the country, will celebrate its 100th anniversary as a leading national infrastructure solutions firm in January 2014.
