The Capitol event will feature talks, meditations, blessings, dancing and music, emphasizing humanity’s global connectedness as Peace. U.S. Ambassador (ret.) John W. McDonald, the originating founder of the U.N. International Day of Peace, will offer the opening remarks at the celebration. Barbara Marx Hubbard, Founder, Foundation for Conscious Evolution will deliver the keynote address “Share Your Vision to Fulfill the Dream” via webcast exclusively to attendants on the Capitol’s West Lawn. The event is co-produced by Casa de Metta, GlobeShift/Global Om 108 and Oneness Mid-Atlantic.

Established in 1981 by an official Act of the United Nations, the International Day of Peace is celebrated around the world by multitudes of people and organizations. McKinsey & Company estimated that in 2012, 280 million people honored the day, and that by 2016, about 3 billion people will participate in its celebration. “At a time when there are numerous conflicts around the world, intra-state violence and killings, and new violence being contemplated,” says Ron Mohl, event Chairman and Founder of Casa de Metta, “focusing on Peace every day is increasingly important.

“We are living in times of tremendous change, uncertainty, and global turbulence. However, there is an even greater force at work as hundreds of thousands of people worldwide are spiritually awakening to realize their Oneness with each other and their Divine. It is this mass global transformation which is and will continue to yield positive change in our world,” states Co-Producer Elizabeth Pan of Oneness Mid-Atlantic.
