BreakThrough Physical Therapy is thrilled to announce the addition of a new physical therapist, Jillian Mitchell, PT, DPT, to the Owen Drive Clinic.\

Jillian received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University (WMU) and was also a member of the varsity volleyball team. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she completed her final research, “The effectiveness of yoga as an intervention in the treatment of patients with chronic low back pain: a systematic review” before graduating in 2013.

“We are very excited to have Jillian Mitchell join our staff,” said clinic manager Alex Koszalinski, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, FAAOMPT. “She has graduated from a highly respected physical therapy program and has a broad spectrum of skills with manual therapy and sports medicine. Her background as a collegiate volleyball player and coach will be instrumental in the development of a high quality sports medicine program for Breakthrough Physical Therapy.”

Jillian has spent time at several clinics in Illinois, Washington and Michigan. She has experience treating runners and tri-athletes which, combined with her athletic history and active lifestyle, fueled her passion for treating competitive athletes of all ages.

"It feels great to officially be part of the BreakThrough team and to be surrounded by healthcare professionals who strive for a higher level of patient care on a daily basis,” said Jillian. “To be able to grow as a clinician in such a warm and accepting environment is something that I am truly grateful for and know that it will positively affect every patient I treat in the future.”

Jillian hopes to increase her manual therapy skills and continue with sports physical therapy, and plans on pursuing certification in both areas in the future.
