Brand New Bike Path Opens in Raleigh - The Best Way to See Raleigh, North Carolina Is on a Bike, According to Mortgage Expert Andy May
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- Having just finished a 25 mile bike ride in Raleigh early this morning was both invigorating and suprisingly easy. Raleigh, North Carolina has dozens of major bike rides that will make even the most ardent bike enthusiast beg for more bike paths, according to Andy May, the mortgage expert. Thanks to a strong local and supportive government - Raleigh is still expanding biking and walking paths throughout the city, including a $3 million Honeycutt to Falls Dam wooded path.
While other cities in California boast bike pathways, Raleigh's are uniquely uninhabited by the 36,000,000 people that live on the California coast. Think about the lack of water in California (this year Raleigh's surplus above its average rain fall was more than almost all of CA). Then take a ride on the newly minted Falls Dam to Clayton bike path that follows the falls river for 25 miles (don't want to drop in at the Falls Dam - drop in at the Horse Creek Road location; the blacktop path is about 14 feet wide). Wow! This is a journey to places few settlers in the 1800s saw? Forget Sir Walter Raleigh. Explore untold treasures biking through untouched forests. This morning was 65 degrees (with an average riding temperature of 70 degrees), there were yellow daffodils, lavendar amaranthus, and yellow 4 o'clock plants abounding the bike path. Idyllic weather coupled with little humidity and a winding major tributary to the Pamlico Sound.
Geese, deer, 233 turtles and about 10 people were seen. For Maryland Terrapins fans, that's about the only time the turtle will rule (think Jason Williams with 53 seconds left - 10 points all by the Duke basketball point guard erased that celebration in college park.....digression alert!). Back to Raleigh bike paths - and the fact that this area is an absolutely wonderful place to raise a family, even for Terps fans.
When living in Oakland, CA there once was a woman who went jogging (may she rest in peace) only to be consumed by a mountain lion. When living in Tampa, FL alligators kill one person every other year.
Why not take a trip to Raleigh to see the Carolina Hurricanes play hockey (about 1/5th the cost of seeing a game in home cities of Detroit or Boston or NY) - bring your bike. Look for turtles (the good kind). And leave the big-bad west behind...and forget the alligators in Florida. Let the cool morning breeze keep perspiration to a minimum as the wind refreshes and get a great workout while exploring the back country of a top-3 biking city.
According to Paul Imura, biking enthusiast, "Here's a couple of great search items to check up on bike paths and all the great flowers, swamps, lilly pads, and such on your bike ride: Bike Paths in Raleigh North Carolina."
