Osprey Village's Assisted Living Finds "Homemade Happiness"
Amelia Island, SC (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- Osprey Village, Amelia Island’s premier retirement community, observed National Assisted Living Week, September 8 to 14, by hosting a series of events developed as a way to bring members, families, employees, volunteers, and the surrounding community together to celebrate “Homemade Happiness.”
“Homemade Happiness” was chosen as the theme this year to highlight the contributions of staff, volunteers, family, and the community to help make Osprey Village a home for the members.
“National Assisted Living Week® is something special we can do to honor our members and celebrate the families, volunteers, and staff,” says Director of Member Services Mary Hamburg.
Some of the high points included:
Homemade Cookie Tasting, Monday, September 9
Members sampled cookies made by local bakeries on Amelia Island and voted on their favorites.
Home is where the art is, Tuesday, September 10
Members displayed their crafts and artwork for the community.
Happiness is a Warm Puppy, Wednesday, September 11
Families and staff brought in their dogs to visit with the members throughout the day.
The members enjoyed participating in the activities. On Tuesday, one resident was so excited to see her name and artwork on display that she went up to everyone asking, “Did you see my name?” recalls Hamburg.
Osprey Village started an award program for the week entitled “Happiness Heroes.” One resident, staff member, and family member is eligible to win and is voted on during the week. Diane Duffy and Ron Holmes were the winners for staff and family, respectively.
National Assisted Living Week® is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Center for Assisted Living, Washington, D.C. and Florida Center for Assisted Living.
Osprey Village looks forward to celebrating National Assisted Living Week® in 2014.
