Programming on the Pet Care Industry Is Featured in “Leading Edge” with Host Jimmy Johnson
(PRWEB) September 21, 2013 -- Companionship is for many defined by a friendship between one human and another. This, however, is a subject for debate for many animal owners who often view their pets as not only their strongest companion, but a member of the family as well. Dogs, cats, and fish are popular among couples who delay having children, single professionals, and empty nesters who often view their pets as “humans wearing a fur coat.” Statistically, the current population for pets outnumbers humans in America by eighty million. So why are we continuing to continuing to spoil these special creatures? Studies reveal that we do not only take care of these pets, they take care of us as well. Pets have been proven to relieve stress and induce laughter; which may describe the recent influx of infamous cat videos found on the internet.
In 2012 over fifty three billion dollars were spent on pets, doubling its rate of twenty billion documented ten years ago. While many companies encounter financial struggle during tough times, the pet industry continues to stay afloat and proves nearly recession proof with 81% of people surveyed still spending the same amount on their beloved creatures. Growing substantially from twenty three billion to over fifty billion in the last ten years, it is the seventh largest retail industry in the U.S. surpassing jewelry and hardware. It is expected that major growths will be seen in the coming years as well. With the demand at a constant for everything from novelty items, to spa days, to luxury shampoos and automated feeders, the road is paved and the concrete is dry for future products and brands in this burgeoning industry.
“Leading Edge with Jimmy Johnson” will inform viewers on the expansion of the Pet Care Industry. The “Leading Edge” series will also feature Veterinarians, Pet Spa Owners, and Animal Business Owners that will enlighten viewers on this dominating trend.
