Bella Donna Chapel Celebrates Three-Year Anniversary

Bella Donna Chapel, which was originally built by Jeff Blackard for his wife, turns three years old.

Bella Donna Chapel, one of the premier wedding destinations in the North Dallas area, is celebrating its third anniversary this year. The chapel was completed in 2010 and has been hosting weddings and receptions for the last three years.

Jeff Blackard built the chapel for his bride-to-be, Donna, and spent over two years working on the project as a gesture of his love for her. The chapel, located on one of the two islands in the Harbor of the Adriatica Village, was modeled after a city in Croatia. The property can only be reached by two footbridges and includes 50 acres of cobblestone roads, stone buildings and Spanish tile roofing. It holds just shy of 200 people and is remarkably similar to chapels found in Rome with its sleek stone architectural design and Renaissance era paintings.

After Blackard built the chapel for his bride, Bella Donna soon opened its doors to the public for weddings and receptions. Its 2,000-square-foot interior includes travertine floors, grand-arched ceilings, stone mantle and columns and stained glass windows. Its domed ceiling is painted and the entire chapel is surrounded by water.

An additional facility is available for booking for receptions. The chapel can also be booked for photo shoots at a minimum of two hours. Bella Donna Chapel is located at 6641 Mediterranean Drive in McKinney. Give them a call for more information at 972-836-7718 or visit
