Testing of five dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG) delivery trucks began in Omaha for Ameripride Services, a leading linen and uniform rental service. Green Alternative Systems (GAS) installed the fully operational Ford 5-550 chassis with 6.8-liter V-10 engines using BAF Technologies CNG-dedicated equipment. Ameripride hopes to have a positive impact on the environment while also measuring the influence these vehicles have on overall operations.
Sean Connolly, General Manager for Green Alternative Systems, said, “We are pleased to work with a very progressive company like Ameripride that understands the financial benefits of converting to alternative fuels. With continued support, we are excited to assist Ameripride in accomplishing their environmental and economic goals for their fleet service.”
Fuel is gathered from the Metropolitan Utility District’s (M.U.D.) publicly accessible station on Interstate-80 in Omaha. Each gallon of CNG is available for less than $2 per gasoline equivalent. These two factors allow companies and individuals in the Omaha area to fill up quickly and efficiently while also realizing the economic and environmental benefits of using an alternative fuels converted vehicle.
