Be Great Partners Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Startups, Announces 9 New Co-Working Spaces in LA
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- On Tuesday, September 17, Be Great Partners held its first annual Be Great Fest, an exclusive black tie, red carpet event celebrating the Los Angeles startup community. The evening brought together entrepreneurs, investors, celebrities and some of LA's hottest startups at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, CA. Notable attendees included several representatives from Mayor Garcetti's office.
Highlights from Be Great Fest included the announcement of Be Great Partners' 9 new co-working spaces throughout the greater Los Angeles area and a $25,000 donation of event proceeds to the educational nonprofit Pencils of Promise.
"Los Angeles has been ranked the No. 3 startup ecosystem in the world, but we know it has the potential and resources to rise to No. 1," said Be Great Partners' Managing Partner, Lin Miao. "With a number of key financial advantages, a tech-friendly new Mayor, and all the resources of the entertainment industry, LA has the right ingredients to be the next startup mecca. Someone just needs to bring these diverse elements together under one roof, and that's why we held Be Great Fest."
During the event, Miao announced Be Great Partners' campaign to "Incubate LA" by opening 9 new co-working spaces in Santa Monica, Downtown LA, Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Pasadena, among other locations. The new offices, known as Be Great Labs, will total 110,000 square feet and be available to LA startups through an affordable, no-contract monthly membership.
The company also offers investment from its $6 million fund and a new modular development program called Be Great Brain. An on-demand service, Be Great Brain gives startups affordable access to Be Great Partners' top developers, designers and out-bound sales.
Representatives from the Los Angeles Mayor's office were on site to share their support, presenting Be Great Partners with a signed certificate from Mayor Garcetti. The Mayor shares Be Great Partners' vision to bolster Los Angeles' startups and transform the city into a new tech hub.
Be Great Fest was attended by hundreds from LA's startup community and featured Be Great Partners portfolio companies NatureBox, Hullabalu, SendHub, MeUndies, Loot Crate, DealFlicks, FriendBuy, Porter, Eversnap, AchieveMint, Lettuce, Scambook, Hexum, and Skycatch, who offered a demonstration of their app-operated drones during the event.
Also participating were sponsors Uber, Ideapaint, STEAM Carnival by Two-Bit Circus, TriNet, WebAir, Fild, WPromote, Early Growth and Kirton McConkie.
Proceeds from the event benefited the charity Pencils of Promise, who believe every child should have access to quality education through establishing new schools, programs, and global communities around the common goal of education for all. Be Great Partners presented Pencils of Promise a check for $25,000 to build a new school in a developing nation and promote global education.
