Menlo College’s Recent Awards Are All About Value
Atherton, CA (PRWEB) September 23, 2013 -- Menlo College ranks #19 for value among 62 top, four-year colleges and universities in California, according to AffordableCollegesOnline.org (AC Online) – a college affordability and financial aid online service. AC Online identified the institutions with the greatest lifetime return on investment (ROI) and indicated that graduates from these listed schools earn more on average than graduates from other California schools.
Menlo College was recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the Best Value Schools Regional Colleges (West) category. This ranking is based on a school's academic quality, as indicated by its 2014 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges ranking (Menlo College scored #10 in the Best Regional Colleges West.) The Best ranking also reflects the 2012-2013 net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their categories are included in the Best Value Schools ranking, because U.S. News & World Report considers the most significant values to be among colleges that are above average academically. The Princeton Review also named Menlo College a “Best in the West” College for the fifth straight year.
“Internship opportunities in the Silicon Valley, fifteen majors, and 15 NAIA sports make our institution remarkable considering our operating expenses are funded mainly by tuition and we are non-profit,” said Menlo College President James J. Kelly.
“The president [Obama] has made it clear that we need to do better as a nation when it comes to making college affordable,” says AC Online founder Dan Schuessler. “While true, we also need to remain focused on education quality, namely on the colleges and universities with a history of producing successful graduates.”
AC Online compiled its list by using the following highly respected, authoritative data sets: NCES (http://nces.gov/), the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education. IPEDS (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/), the primary federal source for data on colleges, and universities in the U.S., Carnegie Classification (http://classifications.carnegiefoundation.org/), a framework widely used in the study of higher education, and PayScale.com (http://www.payscale.com/about/methodology), the premier salary data collection organization.
