Qubole Executives to Present Thought Leadership at DataWeek
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- Qubole™, the leading Big Data as a Service provider, is pleased to announce that the executive team will be providing strong thought leadership at DataWeek 2013. After Qubole won the DataWeek Award for excellence in Innovation in Hadoop Technologies, the blossoming startup will continue the festivities with a variety of sessions and activities during the conference.
On the evening of Friday, September 27th, Qubole’s VP of Engineering, Shrikanth Shankar, will be presenting the Qubole Data Service (QDS) at the Data Hacker Demo Day. Organized by Parisoma in conjunction with DataWeek, the event will kick off the conference with an opportunity to meet and greet with Qubole in a relaxed atmosphere.
Wednesday, October 2nd marks the beginning of the Hadoop Summit at DataWeek. Qubole’s VP of Marketing, Gil Allouche, will lead off with a Lightning Talk at 10:00 AM PDT, introducing the Big-Data-as-a-Service platform. Attendees will get an inside look at the interface and their first opportunity to interact with the Qubole team.
"DataWeek’s Hadoop Summit is exactly where you want to be on Wednesday," said Allouche. "Our experts will be bringing their experience and insight, so you should bring your best questions and toughest challenges!"
After lunch, Qubole CEO and Apache Hive co-creator Ashish Thusoo will join moderator Derrick Harris of GigaOM for a panel on the Hadoop ecosystem. With a stellar collection of speakers from Datameer, WibiData, Mesosphere, and MapR, this roundtable is a must-see.
Directly following the panel, Thusoo will immediately present a talk titled "Taming Elephants, Bees and Pigs – The Big Data Circus" at 2:00 PM PDT. Qubole’s CEO will discuss the reasons and motivations behind the Big Data revolution and how Hive and Hadoop have evolved from previous data processing technologies. In the context of his unique experience at Facebook, Ashish will talk about some of the key challenges of scale and the evolutionary paths and techniques that were developed as a result. Finally, he will talk about the future of Big Data and how technology is continuing to simplify the process and become accessible for all.
Geoff Domoracki, Founder of DataWeek, agrees with Thusoo’s premise. "The top-performing technologies in the data industry are definitely taking aim at democratizing data tools and bringing the power of data to smaller businesses. This is a major change in the data industry, and Qubole Data Service is a great example."
Shrikanth Shankar’s workshop "Build a Big Data App in 30 Minutes" drives this point home. Demonstrating how to leverage tools to quickly and easily create an efficient Big Data app, this workshop is valuable for every skill level. The techniques that Shankar shows are practical for data rookies and veterans alike. The session is scheduled for forty minutes, so there will be time for questions with the VP of Engineering as well, before continuing to the beer tasting event in the Expo Hall.
Qubole will be exhibiting throughout October 2nd and 3rd in the Expo, so be sure to stop by and collect your complimentary Apache Hive Functions Cheat Sheet. The team will be available to answer any questions and provide one-on-one demonstrations of the QDS platform.
If you are unable to attend DataWeek 2013, please join the Qubole team for virtual sessions live and on-demand, available at http://bit.ly/QuboleWebinar.
