Pacific Equity President Jonathan Bennett Donates $190,000 to Feed the Children America to Support the National Sack Lunch Program
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) September 21, 2013 -- Feed the Children America, the international and domestic hunger-relief organization, today announced that financier and philanthropist, Jonathan Bennett, has donated $190,000 to support the National Sack Lunch Program through the Feed the Children America organization, which is a long-standing supporter of Feeding America’s often overlooked hungry children.
The donation will support Feed the Children's National Sack Lunch Program, a nationwide initiative to make sure that every child in America has a daily lunch available to them and that absolutely no child is left hungry. The National Sack Lunch Program provides a recommended daily amount of fresh fruits and vegetables that are distributed to the 17 million children in the United States served by the Feed the Children America network and their participating schools in underprivileged areas. Last year alone, the National Sack Lunch Program secured more than 120 million pounds of fresh produce on behalf of their organization.
"The donation from Pacific Equity president, Jonathan Bennett to the National Sack Lunch Program will help aid our organization in the weekly distribution of more than ten million pounds of fresh produce to underprivileged children facing hunger," said Samuel Goldberg, CEO of Feed the Children America. "We are extremely appreciative to Mr. Bennett for his donation because oftentimes school lunch programs are the only source of fresh fruits and vegetables for children whose families are struggling to put food on the table."
Jonathan Bennett’s donation will also support the Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away Program at schools across the country.
Through the Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away Program, low-income children receive bags filled with apples to take home for the weekends and school vacations. The Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away Program provides nourishment to nearly 240,000 children every year.
"More than one in five children in the United States struggles with hunger, a reality that inspired me to focus on funding projects and charities that feed hungry children," said Jonathan Bennett, president of Pacific Equity. "By supporting Feed the Children America's National Sack Lunch Program and the Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away Program at local schools, we can help ensure children facing hunger right here under our nose in America are receiving nutritious and wholesome food."
