A new Final Fantasy XIV leveling guide was just released at OsirisMethod.com. This new guide details the fastest methods for leveling up to level 50 (the level cap) for both new and veteran players alike.

Final Fantasy XIV, also known as FFXIV, is a recently released MMORPG and has been an unanticipated success. The game itself was originally released over a year ago, but due to glaring issues the developers decided to completely re-work the game. The new iteration of FFXIV has completely different leveling strategies from the old game, so this new guide at The Osiris Method is up to date with the new version.

The leveling guide itself actually consists of two parts: one for new characters and one for players leveling up their second or third class. Final Fantasy XIV has an unusual character system where one character can level up as multiple classes. Players can then change between classes on the same character just by changing their equipped weapon. This mechanic encourages players to level up multiple classes on the same character, which inevitably changes the leveling guide itself. The new guide published by The Osiris Method uses a different approach for new and old characters.

For brand new characters, the new leveling guide takes the unorthodox approach of doing quests for experience points all the way to level 50. While this is not the fastest way to level up in FFXIV, it does provide players with the gil (currency) they need to play the game once they hit level 50. Completing quests is also necessary to unlock dungeons in the game. If players try to pick the fastest route to 50, they will end up with no money and without access to dungeons and will just have to go back and quest anyway.

For players leveling up their second or third class on the same character, the best bet is to skip the quests and dungeons and stick almost exclusively to Full Action Time Events (FATEs). These are short open world quests which spawn all over the game world. Completing these events results in a large experience points reward. These events are currently by far the best way to level up in FFXIV.
