Car finance experts Car Loan 4U comments on the need for tougher dangerous driving punishments
Macclesfield, Cheshire (PRWEB UK) 23 September 2013 -- The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) recently examined eleven cases where drivers had caused death by dangerous driving while using their mobile phone at the wheel.
The road safety charity stated that it would like to see the UK hand down tougher and more consistent sentencing in court for people who cause death by dangerous driving.
The plea comes as the IAM found that the average sentence for the 11 recent prosecutions studied was just four-and-a-half year’s imprisonment along with a seven year driving ban.
Car Loan 4U Director Ryan Dignan, comments:
“Every year thousands of drivers put their own and other people’s lives at risk by using a mobile phone while behind the wheel of a vehicle.
“Statistics provided by the IAM recently prove that the majority of motorists do know that using a mobile phone while driving is a huge risk yet just fewer than one million fixed penalty notices was issued for the offence in the last seven years alone.
“It’s a really shocking statistic and we urge everyone looking to buy a car in the near future to respect the law, acknowledge the risks and drive safely.”
