echoBase, Inc., a leader in enterprise data transformation and management solutions, announced a partnership with MergeMD to offer unfettered mobile medical record access to more than 600 rural hospitals across the United States. Accessible records include data such as patient histories, medications and allergies, and imaging data such as X-rays and MRIs. Furthermore, data is securely stored on the mobile device, allowing patients and clinicians to view and update data regardless of whether they have a network connection at any given time.
MergeMD has signed contracts to provide integration services between disparate healthcare computer systems in hundreds of hospitals. Their solutions allow clinicians to access data from multiple systems from a single location, making the physicians more efficient and providing ROI to MergeMD’s customers. echoBase provides their Resonate XDM (eXtensible Data management) platform to MergeMD, allowing clinicians and patients to access medical records from their mobile devices.
The value of echoBase’s solution to the hospitals is twofold. First, clinicians are demanding access to medical records on their mobile devices, presenting a real challenge for hospitals. Hospitals frequently utilize multiple electronic healthcare applications, each with their own user interface, some offering mobility while others do not. Resonate allows implementing hospitals to provide users a single, federated user interface on their mobile devices. Making this data available at the point of care increases record accuracy, ultimately leading to increased patient safety and satisfaction.
Secondly, with Resonate hospitals can now easily offer patients access to their own records on their personal mobile devices. Many of MergeMD’s customers currently distribute imaging data to patients via CD. Resonate is now allowing those hospitals to make imaging data available to users via their mobile devices, saving the overhead of purchasing and managing physical media.
“Resonate is a turnkey solution that is creating ROI for hospitals by satisfying physician demand, which assists them in retaining top talent, and simplifying the process of distributing medical data to patients,” said Brent J. Miller, President and co-founder of echoBase.
“echoBase’s technology, allows us to provide hospitals with a less expensive and more secure method of providing patients with necessary medical information, including medical images. Doctors can now have access to their patients’ electronic medical records at all times, resulting in dramatic increases in their physicians’ efficiency and their patients’ safety. Providing patients with access to their own records, available at all times on their mobile devices without constant reliance on a network connection, gives our hospital clients a differentiator relative to other hospitals,” says Scott Griffith, COO of MergeMD.
echoBase is committed to changing the paradigm of application software development and maintenance in such a way that reduces development cost, increases flexibility, increases speed to market, and limits the need to hire or train new skill sets in order to leverage the latest user interface devices with both new and existing applications. echoBase has groundbreaking technology spanning a variety of industries, allowing alternative user interfaces, such as native mobile device interfaces, to be quickly and easily added to almost any application without any additional software development.
