David Calhoun Overcomes Obesity & Wins $25,000 in 2013 MaxForm Life Challenge
(PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- Since that time, David has lost over 100 pounds, dropped close to 30% of his body fat and added several pounds of lean muscle in the process.
"I've struggled with obesity my entire life. Doctors told me I was going to die if I didn’t fix this problem. Max Muscle Sports Nutrition’s Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach™ put me on a meal plan and taught me the importance of proper nutrition and the role that it played in healthy and effective weight management. This was the part that had always been missing my entire life and once I had the correct foundation I began to really see results,” said 2013 MaxFormation Life Challenge $25,000 Champion Calhoun.
David works with physically and mentally challenged children and adolescents as a profession. He knows over two thirds of Americans are now overweight and more than a third are obese. His obesity started as a child and part of his ‘growing up’ included going to the hospital regularly to try to curtail an alarming number of childhood obesity issues.
Several of David’s health issues that he has struggled with since he was a child, have either been significantly reduced or alleviated entirely. He attributes his new lifestyle and what he has learned from Artie and Max Muscle Sports Nutrition. He started at 337 pounds and ended at 225 pounds, with over 30% of his body fat lost and several pounds of lean muscle added to his frame. Calhoun said, “This was the real difference that Max Muscle and their custom nutrition plan made for me. I wasn’t just losing body weight, I was losing body fat and adding muscle so I’m not just a smaller version of myself, I’m a stronger, leaner and healthier version of myself!”
Said Calhoun, “I can’t stress the importance of a good support group. My family, my friends, my wife, Max Muscle Sports Nutrition and the myMaxMuscle online community. When I saw my family and friends’ expressions at my final weigh in, I realized that 'Win' or 'Lose' I had already won. I can do things I’ve never been able to do before. Things I thought I was just born never to be able to do. I am stronger, faster, but most importantly I took my life back."
Artie Quaranta met with Calhoun in his Max Muscle Sports Nutrition store nearly every week during his six-month journey assisting him with his personally developed Meal Plan and the supplementation & vitamins that served as ‘fuel for the fire’ of Calhoun’s mission. Telling the story about how Calhoun not only transformed his body, but saved his life, is exactly the kind of message Quaranta yearns to share.
“With all the attention in our nation on childhood & adult obesity, Calhoun makes a great role model.” David had been obese since early in his childhood and it had followed him through his early adult life. Sean Greene, President of Max Muscle Sports Nutrition concurs with Quaranta and wants to take that ideal to the masses. “The MaxFormation Life Challenge and what Max Muscle Sports Nutrition does for this nation to educate Americans on proper and healthy weight management could not be any more significant than it is right now. I believe that our calling and our challenge is to reach out into our communities one Max Muscle store at a time and educate and help our fellow Americans, people like David Calhoun who were once lost and on a destructive path, to find new life.”
Calhoun has that dispatch ready to spread.
"For those of you out there that say to yourselves, 'I don't have the time', 'I can't do it' or 'I don't understand' I'm here to tell you that I do understand. I wish I could tell you that it's not going to be hard, but the truth of it is, it will be. There will be times where you'll doubt yourself. There will be times when you want to give up. But you won't. Not this time. This time will be different. This time you will make the time. And this time, you will do it. It all starts with a choice, day in and day out...one decision at a time."
