Central Bucks Chamber Excellence in Design Tour
(PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- The Central Bucks Chamber’s Architectural & Environmental Committee has developed its 2013 Excellence in Design Tour -- set for Sunday, September 29, from 1pm to 4pm, reception from 4pm to 6pm -- to spotlight three fresh and inviting interpretations of the changes in our community’s built environment over the last two decades.
“Growing numbers of people desire enriched lives that support their needs while minimizing their footprint on the natural environment,” says Michael Raphael, AIA, co-chair of the A&E Committee. “The challenges of distance, time and differing abilities, coupled with the need for places to live, work, learn and be entertained, demand alternative approaches to the built environment.
“We developed ‘Live, Work, Play’ so we can see how our communities are meeting these demands.”
The trio of sites are located in Warminster and nearby Warrington Township. They feature The Station at Bucks County, an ideally situated luxury residential housing project on Jacksonville Road; Vertical Screen’s corporate headquarters on the former Naval Air Development Center grounds, one of the few LEED Platinum-certified buildings in the U.S.; and Special Equestrians, a nonprofit therapeutic horseback riding center for all ages, on 42 preserved agricultural acres along West Street Road.
Ticket-holders will be given guided tours of each site, with Vertical Screen’s tours set for 1:30, 2:15 and 3:00 only. Special Equestrians will provide ongoing riding demos. Refreshments will be served at each location. The event will run rain or shine.
Tour-goers and tour site personnel are invited to return to Vertical Screen at 4pm to enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres under the tent as guests of reception hosts Tony and Amy D’Orazio.
Tickets and map for this year’s Excellence in Design Tour, which is sponsored by Carroll Engineering Corp., are just $10 per person before September 27, $15 at tour sites on the day of the tour, and $5 for students who show their school ID. Tickets can be purchased at Chamber offices, online at http://www.CentralBucksChamber.com and at the Doylestown Book Shop.
