Long johns are a big hit already for Deadgoodundies.com - as long underwear moves firmly into fashion this autumn
(PRWEB UK) 25 September 2013 -- Long johns moved from underwear basics into the fashion arena last winter after international designers gave them an edgier image. Now this sphere of the men’s underwear market has divided into different product categories - from plain to plaid, simply practical to seriously luxurious.
“As we come to the end of the third quarter of the year, with the sun still warm after a brilliant summer, we’ve already noted a significant upturn in sales of long underwear,” says Deadgoodundies founder Adam Davies.
“We booked early deliveries of many of our autumn collections this year, including new fashion long johns. We have also stocked up with a series of best sellers from last winter. Of course, it’s always cold somewhere in the world and long johns are great for snow sports, but the uptick in sales this month is greater than ever before in this category.”
Jockey’s fashion long johns and bodies are proving particularly popular. Their Streets of Chicago Long John in red, white and blue plaid at £26 and the new Jockey Grizzly Creek Body at £30 in cuddly tartan are proving especially popular.
Adam says DGU’s strategy is to satisfy all preferences when it comes to long underwear, from pure cotton classics to indulgent yarns like the finest merino wool.
“The Jockey Thermal long sleeved T-shirt and matching johns cost just £15 each, while Doreanse’s 1960 Thermal Long John and matching 2960 Long Sleeved Shirt are £21 apiece. But if you want the ultimate in thermal underwear, Jockey’s International Collection Merino Thermal Long Shirt and matching long johns in pure black or heather grey merino cost £85 each.”
Deadgoodundies.com is popular as a source of fashion, but as Adam explains, some men need pure cotton layers to keep them warm and safe at work. “We are often approached by contractors who have to wear pure natural fibres for safety reasons. They favour our never-out-of-stock lines like the calf length Jockey Spurt 100% Cotton Y-front Over Knee or the same brand’s Modern Classic 100% Cotton Long John.”
Long underwear has long been a sporting essential and the Jockey 3D Innovations Long John in high fashion red or classic black offers eight-way stretch for maximum flexibility. But the long john theme has moved into much more adventurous styling too - for example the enhancing Ergowear MAX Premium Long John.
“And for gents who want to keep their torso warm but don’t need leg covering, there are ‘bodies’ that avoid the extra layers, or a breezy gap between underpants and vest,” says Adam. “Doreanse offer two popper-fronted styles, both sleeveless. The Doreanse 5001 Full Body has a higher brief style leg line while the 5002 Boxer Body Suit has shorts legs.”
Adam is confident the Deadgoodundies website will have a successful fourth quarter, following a steady increase in sales over the summer months. “The new interest in long underwear will boost our figures for sure, especially in the run-up to Christmas as the right long johns make a great gift!”
