Original Feminist Housewife Celebrates 25 Years at the Helm of St. Barth Properties
Franklin, MA (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- Recently hailed by Social Life Magazine as “one of the original feminist housewives,” Peg Walsh, Founder and President of St. Barth Properties, will kick off the celebration of her company’s silver anniversary beginning this fall. Friends, family and colleagues have been wowed over the past 25 years watching the company grow to include offices in both The United States and St. Barth, more than 160 villas and partnerships with all the glamorous hotels frequented by A-list celebrities.
“I’ve always been impulsive, and more often than not it has served me well,” says Peg. I fell in love with this island the day I arrived, and that love led me to purchase the first residence in what would become St. Barth Properties. We have remained exclusive to this destination. It is now my home from December through May of each year and I am thrilled that we have all had the opportunity to introduce St. Barth to so many vacationers.”
Those closest to Peg love to talk about her industrious approach to life, and how it eventually paved the way for the creation of St. Barth Properties. As a very young housewife, Peg lived in a tiny town in northern Vermont with her husband, two toddlers and no car to-call-her-own. She saw the need that other moms had for child care, seized upon the opportunity and created a nursery school in her home. In no time at all, she was wheeling around town in her own car and on to her next challenge.
Peg loved planning annual trips to the Caribbean to celebrate her wedding anniversary and each year she and her husband Steve would choose a different island. In 1986 they visited St. Barth for the first time and Peg fell head over flip-flops. Its beauty, European vibe and ambiance of casual sophistication sparked a passion that has never faltered. Before she left, Peg bought a small condo in the little village of St. Jean. Unhappy with the agency in which she listed her condo, Peg simply decided to rent it herself. When she discovered that other property owners were equally disgruntled, she saw an opportunity and St. Barth Properties was born. Ever resourceful, Peg started the company with one half of a desk in her husband’s dental office, a one thousand dollar investment and a passion for this little island in the French West Indies. Peg and her son Tom Smyth, the company’s Vice President, also went on to launch St. Barth Properties Sotheby’s International Realty and today their team is known as the premier source for those seeking to rent for a week, or buy for a lifetime, on the island.
Her diligent attention to detail and her love of St. Barth continues to inspire the company’s vision and growth. Peg remains at the company helm and now lives six months of the year on St. Barth and summers on Cape Cod. Her team of 15 shares her passion and embraces her trademarked slogan Live Your Dream®. Making sure every client can do just that.
“As we approach our silver anniversary, I am most proud of the fact that St. Barth Properties has helped to make dream vacations, dream homes, and dream careers a reality for so many people that I care about,” concluded Peg. I hope my success inspires other people starting out to just go for it, and live their dream!”
