The award-winning, family-owned business is now certified to deliver innovative, green hybrid Battery Pack Conditioning services to increase the performance and fuel economy of hybrid vehicles, at a significant cost-savings to owners

First Landing Autocare, an award-winning, NAPA-certified auto care facility in the Virginia Beach, VA region, announces today that it has joined The Hybrid Shop (THS), a growing international network of dealers committed to providing expert care for hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs), as a Dealer Partner. Through this new affiliation, First Landing Autocare now delivers green and cost-saving diagnostic, repair, and preventative maintenance services to owners of hybrid vehicles at their two locations in the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads, VA area.

Building upon their established reputation for high-quality, expert service as the ‘Neighborhood Dealer Alternative,’ First Landing Autocare’s recent partnership with THS underscores its continued commitment to bringing the best in available automotive technology to its loyal and growing customer base.

A less than-optimally energized hybrid battery can create a host of performance issues, most often resulting in poor fuel economy, reduced torque, and significant battery replacement costs, which can amount to as much as $9,000 for some vehicles. Through THS’ innovative Battery Pack Conditioning service, First Landing Autocare offers hybrid owners the option to restore, instead of replace, the HEV battery pack, in conjunction with a full range of green maintenance and diagnostic services tailored specifically for hybrid vehicles. These services extend the vehicle’s life, fuel economy, and overall performance, restoring up to 95% of the battery pack’s original power and energy, while driving significant increased fuel economy over the vehicle’s lifetime. Additionally, the ability to restore, as opposed to replace, the batteries is a critical element in the environmental sustainability of these services, in that doing so does not add to the waste stream.

Key advantages and savings that First Landing Autocare’s customers can expect from these new services also include:

  •     Cost-savings – Battery Pack Conditioning is approximately 1/3 of the cost of battery replacement;
  •     Enhanced fuel economy – between 10-35% fuel economy improvement depending on the initial State of Health (SOH) of the battery;
  •     Enhanced vehicle performance – every HEV serviced will perform more efficiently, cost less to operate and have improved drivability;
  •     Immediate gratification – customers experience improved performance and fuel economy following completion of the THS service at First Landing Autocare;
  •     A comprehensive menu of services – to ensure hybrid owners receive the highest quality of one-stop-shopping for repair and maintenance for their hybrid vehicle;
  •     Battery Pack Conditioning and rebuilding services;
  •     Testing of electric transmissions, DC-DC converters, power inverter and control systems; and
  •     Hybrid specific maintenance.

In addition, First Landing Autocare also offers its HEV customers an optional State of Health (SOH) program that assesses the vehicle’s bigger picture, which is conducted prior to Battery Pack Conditioning. Similar to a crystal ball, the SOH assessment uses a unique predictive analysis methodology that shows how different aspects of the car are trending to deliver maximum results, reliability, and cost savings from hybrid vehicle services. As battery performance impacts every high voltage system, this service is particularly valuable to HEV owners, providing them with peace of mind and detailed information to help them avoid costly repairs and breakdowns.

“We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with THS, as well as our leading role in serving the growing needs of hybrid vehicle owners across our area and the greater Hampton Roads region,” First Landing Autocare’s Mark Anderton said. “As a family business, we have built our reputation for quality service and expert customer service. We are excited to be able to offer a host of innovative, cost-saving, and environmentally-friendly solutions to our hybrid customers to help them receive maximum power, drivability, and gratification from their hybrid vehicles.”

“THS is excited to welcome First Landing Autocare as our newest Dealer Partner,” said Matt Curry, CEO of The Hybrid Shop. “Their expertise, strong reputation for quality service, and ties to their community make them an ideal addition to our expanding global network serving the hybrid vehicle market. We look forward to continuing to support them in their success!”
