Sandia Biotech, Inc. and Sigma-Aldrich Enter into Global Distribution and Marketing Agreement
Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- Sandia Biotech, Inc., an Albuquerque, NM based, privately held biotech development and manufacturing company has signed a co-exclusive, global distribution agreement with Sigma-Aldrich for its Split Fluorescent Protein (sFP) product line, which is based on technology licensed from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Sandia Biotech will continue to manufacture its novel Split Green Fluorescent Protein (sGFP) product line in Albuquerque, NM.
Sandia Biotech’s sFP technology, which includes several easy-to-use kits that are available in green, yellow and cyan variations, is utilized in protein and peptide analysis by the pharmaceutical drug development and industrial biotech communities. Proteins and peptides can be analyzed with standard instrumentation, and as such, the purchase of new equipment will typically not be necessary. Drug developers will find the advantages of this technology over those currently in use to include simplicity and increased specificity with a concomitant reduction in false positives, development costs, analysis time and reagent costs. Furthermore, this technology is capable of providing information on protein folding and aggregation that can also significantly reduce development costs.
Sandia Biotech’s products are utilized by a broad range of institutional and commercial entities worldwide that are producing or developing peptide and protein technologies. It is anticipated that this sFP technology will become the preferred tool for protein and peptide analysis, replacing many of those methods currently used in the immunoassay market.
Since June of 2009, Sandia Biotech has exclusively sold this technology to institutions and research laboratories world-wide through its website (http://www.sandiabio.com). In 2012, it introduced its products to major drug developers and pharmaceutical commercial entities.
Says company President, Tony Pino: "We realized from the beginning that the key to making a significant impact in the market place with our novel product line would be to find a major distributor with the capacity to market on a global basis. We are ecstatic that we are able to team up with one of the largest distributors of research biochemicals and kits in the world. Sigma-Aldrich is impressed with the international attention our product line has generated and our sales so far by solely being published in scientific literature, and making our products available via our website."
These innovative products fit well into the existing offering of products for protein and peptide analysis at Sigma-Aldrich. Customers around the globe will benefit from the combined offer.
