BrightBox Solutions is a leading provider of help desk software for the SMB market, and they recently received $500,000 in new investment. The investment is targeted at, among other things, strengthening their SaaS offering. The product, which has long been offered as an on-premise solution, will be offered as a hosted solution, and now as a private hosted solution.
BrightBox Solutions began beta testing the cloud-based version of the program on September 3, and along with that testing comes the announcement of the availability of a private cloud option.
As with any cloud application, BrightBox Solutions will host the client’s database, but instead of commingling the data with that of other companies, the customer will have a dedicated cloud instance that operates exclusively as a home for their data.
While many businesses enjoy the advantages of operating from a cloud environment, there is the concern that comes with sharing resources with other businesses. This becomes especially sensitive when a cloud application commingles sensitive data, such as with Active Directory integration. When customers take advantage of the private cloud version of Help Desk Premier, they’re enjoying tremendous benefits, including more secure Active Directory data. With private cloud applications, data is just as secure, if not more secure than with on-premise data storage. Additionally, Help Desk Premier is known for providing scalable, customizable solutions, and this move to private cloud options means this can be further refined.

With these advantages being specific to the private cloud, the overall move to a cloud platform of any kind has benefits, including redundancy, the elimination of the need for dedicated servers, and a reduction in maintenance and upgrade costs.
