North American Spine Making News During Pain Awareness Month
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- Pain Awareness Month is getting a huge boost from North American Spine. Dr. Jason Williams appeared live on WFAA-TV, the ABC affiliate in Dallas, to talk about ways to avoid and treat your back pain and the benefits of the AccuraScope procedure.
Dr. Williams told anchor Cynthia Izaguirre and viewers about the three preventative steps to avoid back pain. “Stay active or start an exercise routine that includes core strengthening, minimize lifting. Bending and twisting your body, and when lifting heavy objects, and use proper lifting techniques and safety equipment,” said Williams.
Dr. Williams also offered up sound advice on how to find treatment if you’re currently suffering from back pain. “Consult your primary care physician and describe the pain as best as you can in order to help the physician better understand and help to treat the pain. Research all treatment options. There are many options that people don’t know of and we encourage all patients to do their research. And start with the most conservative and minimally invasive treatments as possible.”
For those who have found the more traditional options haven’t worked, there’s always surgery. North American Spine patient Tony Rios knows first hand what a successful surgery can do for you. Rios, a martial arts instructor, underwent the AccuraScope procedure four years ago.
The AccuraScope procedure is the least minimally invasive surgery available for lower back pain. It uses a small catheter equipped with a small laser and HD camera that pinpoints problems in your spine at multiple levels. The camera and laser combined are about the size of a small coffee straw.
The surgery takes about 30-40 minutes and patients usually return to work within a couple of days.
Since his surgery Rios has seen a huge decrease in pain. “I went and did some research and was looking at some different options. I had seen a couple of different doctors. One opinion was to have my lower back fused. That’s a great deal of surgery. A six hour surgery, six days in the hospital, two months of bed rest. I was almost content with doing that because I was really desperate. But once I found North American Spine and looked at the AccuraScope procedure, it’s a 45 minute surgery,” says Rios.
Since the surgery, Rios has returned to work and become quite the champion for the AccuraScope procedure making TV appearances, giving testimonials, and starring as an unpaid spokesman in commercials for North American Spine.
