JDRF Canada's Ride for Diabetes Research Powers National Corporate Giving Through DonorDrive
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- JDRF Canada has turned stationary bike riding into a national event for business leaders and employees across the country. Each year the JDRF Ride for Diabetes Research attracts 23,000 Canadian employees that get together for the event in cities across Canada, put in miles on stationary bikes and fundraise millions for vital research. This is the fifth year they've used DonorDrive's peer-to-peer software to power their event.
Steven Greenwood is the National Manager for "Ride." He feels this experiential event has unique recruitment and fundraising opportunities in the workplace that help its success: "There's definitely the opportunity to make it easier to get workers involved because you're physically in the same space, you're seeing each other every day face to face, you're chatting by the water cooler." He notes that DonorDrive Social Fundraising software also makes it easy for his participants: "For our rider, the whole process of registering and fundraising is smoother and the more efficient because of DonorDrive." Ride grows bigger every year, adding more cities and more corporate teams. Steven sees DonorDrive's built-in communication tools as a powerful ally in fundraising for participants: "Communicating to their contacts through the social and email tools in DonorDrive has been very effective for us."
The DonorDrive Fundraising Motivation Engine™ has saved JDRF Canada a lot of time by making much of the coaching of teams and individuals automatic. "DonorDrive automatically triggers a thank you message when someone registers and lets a participant know when someone donates—those are automatic. We find that's a useful tool. It alleviates many of the time-consuming aspects for us." DonorDrive's rich reporting has also helped by tracking and guiding Ride's success for Steven: "I see reports on a weekly basis, if not more. We've started doing segmented communications to teams and participants nationally based on DonorDrive's reporting." This has also been a help for each individual event too. "Individual Ride locations also use information in DonorDrive to communicate with their participants locally."
From humble beginnings of JDRF Canada's Ride for Diabetes Research 25 years ago, it's developed into one of Canada's premier fundraising events for the business world. "The program has certainly seen it's growth and its legs really established in the last few years." JDRF Ride in Toronto is going on today from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Eastern Time, with other rides going on across Canada through October.
