Rodriguez Holland & Co Helps Businesses Utilize the Affordable Care Act
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- With October 1 right around the corner, the deadline for employers to provide notification to employees about their health coverage options and the health insurance marketplaces is coming near. The new requirement for employers to provide notice of coverage options is part of the Affordable Care Act.
With changing requirements and laws, it can be hard to remember every detail. Rodriguez Holland & Co would like to remind employers of the upcoming deadline along with the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
All employers are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and with that comes the requirement of providing a written notice to all current employees, regardless of their part or full time status, by October 1. Moving forward from this date, all new hires must be provided this information at the time of hire.
The notice employees receive must include a variety of information. Employees must receive a description of the health insurance marketplace, which includes a description of the services provided and how employees can contact the Marketplace for assistance. The employee must also receive notice that if their company’s health insurance plan does not offer an affordable, minimum coverage package that they may be eligible for a premium tax subsidy through the Marketplace. Lastly, the employee needs to be informed that if they purchase a qualified health plan through the Marketplace, then the employee may lose any contribution the employer is currently offering.
For those who have not provided notice to employees, please visit the Texas State Health Insurance website for directions and copies of the sample notices that the Department of Labor has provided.
