Lumetrics, Inc. Wins a Major Award from Digital Rochester’s Greater Rochester Excellence and Achievements in Technology (GREAT) Awards
Rochester, NY (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- With more than a decade of experience in the field of precision measurement, Lumetrics, Inc. has received a “GREAT” award from Digital Rochester, also known as Greater Rochester Excellence and Achievements in Technology. Lumetrics won the award in the category of “Optics, Photonics and Imaging Technology.”
Digital Rochester, which is made up of professionals who are working together to strengthen the technology community in the Greater Rochester area, presented the awards at a ceremony held earlier this month. The organization gave awards in categories that included Communication Technology, Going Green, Healthcare Technology, Technology Services, Optics, Photonics and Imaging, Student Achievement, and Visionary Leadership. Its goal is to recognize companies and individuals responsible for breakthroughs in technology, innovation, and environmentally friendly products.
Lumetrics was specifically recognized for its development of the OptiGauge™, an innovative, all fiber based interferometer for thickness measurement - applicable to many markets. The OptiGauge for thickness measurement is only one of Lumetrics’ solutions that was recognized. “Lumetrics development of Shack-Hartmann wavefront analysis equipment for contact lenses, intraocular lenses, and optics components are also key to Lumetrics’ continued leadership in the metrology field”, said John Hart, Lumetrics president and CEO.
Lumetrics just shipped their latest model infrared wavefront sensor, the CLAS-NIR-640 to a major development lab. This InGaAs CCD camera is at least 10 times more sensitive to NIR than phosphor-coated silicon cameras. All models of Lumetrics wavefront sensors are driven by its CLAS-2D software which is designed to provide thorough and accurate metrology of phase, irradiance, and beam geometry characteristics, of laser beams and beams propagating through optical systems.
Lumetrics’ state-of-the-art software is easy to use and contains features that have evolved through practical experience by thousands of users at such facilities as MIT’s Lincoln Labs, the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, Agilent, and Boeing. As Hart explains Lumetrics’ position as a leader in innovation, “You do not need a lot of money to innovate ideas and products, and in fact part of the innovation cycle is to discover how to accomplish things inexpensively.”
When asked to give advice to other innovators Hart said it is important to conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manner each day. “A good reputation is my single most important personal characteristic, and I learned this from my parents,” says Hart.
