Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance To Host Annual Conference for Women in Accounting and Finance
McLean, VA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (formerly American Society of Women Accountants) is pleased to announce the 2013 Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Annual Conference. The conference will be held October 20-23, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis, IN. In addition to top educational offerings, the 2013 Annual Conference offers unparalleled opportunities to market to, recruit from, and network with more than 400 decision-makers from the accounting and finance industries.
The 2013 Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Annual Conference is the premier accounting and finance conference. Attendees can earn up to 24 hours of continuing professional education to support the yearly requirement to maintain the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Aside from an educational focus, conference activities include networking, leadership development, fundraising for the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Educational Foundation to support scholarships, and recognition of leaders in the field through the 2013 AFWA Excellence in Accounting & Finance Awards.
The conference marks the association’s 75th anniversary and will feature celebrations throughout the conference, including a gala the first night. Other new conference features include a student day where students are invited to attend one day of the conference at a heavily discounted rate to go on an office tour of Deloitte’s Indianapolis office with a female partner, attend sessions in the Career Planning track, and join attendees for lunch at the awards luncheon where students will network with seasoned professionals and learn about the industry’s trailblazers. The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance has also developed its first mobile app for attendees to utilize throughout the conference to access the schedule, interact with exhibitors, exchange electronic business cards, participate in networking activities, and more.
“The gathering of accounting and finance professionals from across the country is an important opportunity for women in an industry still dominated by men at the top tiers,” said Lee K. Lowery, CAE, Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance executive director. “We are especially excited to celebrate the association’s 75th anniversary throughout the conference in the city of our first chapter. This anniversary represents 75 years of progress women have made in the industry, and the conference will equip attendees with the skills to advance the position of women in accounting and finance even further.”
