Experient Health to Offer Health Care Reform Education at the State Fair of Virginia
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- In between the funnel cakes, pig races and carnival rides, State Fair of Virginia attendees can get health screenings and learn more about health care reform thanks to Experient Health, a Virginia Farm Bureau Company, which will be available throughout the Sept. 27 to Oct. 6 fair.
Health screenings will be available Saturdays and Sundays during the fair from 1 to 5 p.m.
Brief, 15-minute workshops on health care, insurance and more will be held Monday through Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 6 p.m.
A Health Care Reform 101 seminar will be held in the ballroom at the Mansion on Sunday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
“As we get closer to Oct. 1 and the opening of the state marketplaces, the interest and need for information about how health care reform will impact families and businesses grows,” said Brad Spence, a Benefits Consultant and Director of Sales for Experient Health. “The most important thing we can do for our community is ensure we are all well informed. That’s what we’re hoping to do at the State Fair of Virginia.”
New health care reform laws that go into effect in 2014 mandate that individuals carry health insurance or, in most cases, pay a fine. Consumers will have to purchase plans with comprehensive benefits that meet minimum coverage requirements.
“We want people to ask the questions they have about health care reform topics, online marketplaces (formerly referred to as exchanges), tax credits, essential health benefits, pre-existing conditions and more,” Spence said.
The State Fair of Virginia is held at the Meadow Event Park, located at 13111 Dawn Blvd. in Doswell, Va.
